Scaling Quantum Safe: How HSBC Transitions from Early Momentum to Enterprise Execution
· 09:35 – 10:15 Amsterdam time · Red hall
Quantum Safe transformation is emerging as a critical strategic priority for financial institutions, though most organisations are still in relatively early stages of structured execution. This session shares HSBC's experience in evolving its Quantum Safe journey from a collection of early initiatives into a structured enterprise programme designed for long-term migration.
As a global financial institution operating across complex technology landscapes, HSBC recognised that successful cryptographic transformation requires more than identifying vulnerable algorithms or testing new technologies. It requires alignment across business priorities, technology domains, governance structures, third-party ecosystems, operational processes, and future investment decisions. The session explores how HSBC approached this transition by consolidating existing insights, validating readiness, strengthening alignment across stakeholders, and creating the foundations for the next stage of execution: moving from awareness and experimentation into an enterprise transformation mindset, strengthening board-level visibility, and building the governance, ownership, and execution model needed for a multi-year journey.
Rather than focusing only on technology change, this session highlights the organisational and strategic lessons behind scaling Quantum Safe adoption in a large financial institution.
