Roundtable: Government PQC Guidance and Regulation — Where We Are and Where We're Going
· 10:45 – 12:30 Amsterdam time · Room F (6&7)
More than 30 national governments have now published guidance on post-quantum cryptography, ranging from two-page memos to migration handbooks running to hundreds of pages. Sector regulators then translate that guidance for the industries they oversee, and their approaches vary widely: informal supervisory dialogue, procurement requirements, convening and coordination, funded research programs, and formal mandates under financial-sector legislation.
This roundtable brings together government agencies, sector regulators, standards bodies, and the organizations that must implement their guidance for a working discussion rather than a series of presentations. After a short introduction from the moderator, participants will compare approaches across the Americas, Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and Asia-Pacific: what the advantages and disadvantages of each model are, which approaches are working in practice, and where the gaps in global guidance lie.
The discussion will give particular attention to what organizations operating across borders need from governments and regulators to keep their migrations aligned, and to what good practice in PQC guidance looks like.
The main conclusions will feed into a brief recap during the conference's closing session.
