Prioritising Financial Sector Use-Cases for Migration
· 11:45 – 12:30 Amsterdam time · Red hall
The intricate web of interbank communications, transaction protocols, and shared infrastructure means no single financial institution can effectively navigate a successful Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) migration alone. The Quantum Safe Financial Forum (QSFF) was launched by Europol in 2024 and quickly established itself as the go-to authority for financial institutions grappling with the complexities of quantum-safe migration. The forum comprises experts from leading commercial banks, central banks, regulators and other financial entities.
A dedicated Working Group within QSFF is actively developing an aligned roadmap: precisely defining the scope of each "use-case" for PQC implementation, establishing criteria for evaluating and prioritizing those use-cases, linking business contexts to the CIA triad, identifying concrete milestones, and balancing dependencies to ensure a synchronized rollout.
This talk provides an overview of the Working Group's structure, its deliverables to date, planned next steps, and practical ways in which the audience can contribute to this vital initiative.
