The European Roadmap on Post-Quantum Cryptography: Looking Back and Moving Forward

· 16:20 – 16:55 Amsterdam time · Red hall

In April 2024, the European Commission issued a Recommendation on Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC), calling on Member States to adopt a coordinated and harmonized approach to the transition towards quantum-resistant cryptographic systems. This led to the establishment of a dedicated PQC workstream within the NIS Cooperation Group, co-chaired by France, Germany, and the Netherlands. Bringing together representatives from nearly all EU Member States, the workstream developed the European roadmap for the coordinated migration to PQC, published in June 2025.

The workstream continues to support Member States by fostering collaboration, exchanging experiences, and addressing common challenges related to the transition to PQC. In this talk, we will review the progress made since the publication of the roadmap, discuss key developments and lessons learned, and provide an outlook on the remaining priorities and future activities of the workstream.
