How to Actually Start Your PQC Transition
· 11:15 – 11:30 Amsterdam time · Room A (2)
In discussions around the PQC transition, the technical migration challenge often receives the most attention. In practice, however, organizations face significant barriers before any cryptographic transition can begin: establishing governance, securing funding, aligning stakeholders, and setting up effective program management structures.
This talk builds on a whitepaper currently being developed through hands-on experience from members of two Belgian communities, Quantum Circle and the Belgian Cybersecurity Coalition. It provides practical guidance for the early stages of PQC adoption, focusing on why these initial steps are complex, how organizations can structure the necessary PQC migration engine, and how to justify the scale and urgency of such a transformation. In addition, the talk challenges commonly repeated advice on initial migration preparation and prioritization, offering a more pragmatic alternative approach.
