Adventures with LMS: Lessons from Implementing Stateful Hash-Based Signatures for Post-Quantum Trust
· 15:30 – 16:10 Amsterdam time · Blue hall
LMS is a proven post-quantum signature scheme, but its stateful nature creates deployment challenges that are easy to underestimate. This session shares practical lessons from implementing LMS in real-world post-quantum trust scenarios, with a focus on one-time signature key management, constrained environments, firmware-style workflows, verification performance, and operational failure modes. Attendees will learn where LMS fits, where it does not, and what engineering decisions are needed to deploy stateful hash-based signatures safely as part of a quantum-resistant architecture.
