SUMMARY:PQC Migration for European Public Institutions
DESCRIPTION:Cryptanalytically Relevant Quantum Computing (CRQC) is approach
ing increasingly fast\, as the latest developments in hardware\, software\,
and the application of decrypting algorithms show. But where would adversa
ries with a CRQC find their first targets? The public sector\, involving ma
ny different institutions with huge amounts of confidential information (fr
om monetary and financial\, through organizational and strategic\, to healt
h and security data) is home to high-value targets with data retention peri
ods that make harvest-now-decrypt-later worth the effort.\n\nThe complexity
of IT systems\, already heterogeneous between the different institutions a
nd even more so between European countries\, and the need for reliability a
nd trustworthiness of this backbone of our societies\, make migration a hig
hly difficult undertaking. This is a challenge Q-PrEP is here to help tackl
e\, in and with its community of cybersecurity agencies\, public sector org
anizations\, their private sector providers\, and cybersecurity researchers
on PQC and related aspects. A clear strategy\, not unguided disruption of
safety and secrecy\, is needed and advanced by and within Q-PrEP.\n\nTo giv
e the audience an impression of the project and its community\, the present
ation by the Q-PrEP project team covers an introduction to the approach and
measures taken by Q-PrEP\; the Q-PrEP Community as the centerpiece of the
project\; integration of Q-PrEP into the European PQC ecosystem\; key aspec
ts of the PQC migration in European public organizations and services and h
ow their representatives engage in Q-PrEP\; and the direction of Q-PrEP's P
QC roadmap for the public sector\, Europe-wide.\n\n\nSpeakers: Mathias Schu
 macher\, Adrian Neal
