SUMMARY:Leveraging PKI in the Quantum Sovereign Stack
DESCRIPTION:The convergence of post-quantum cryptography\, sovereign techno
logy strategies\, advanced AI\, and accelerating computing power is forcing
companies and countries to rethink how trust infrastructure is built and g
overned\, with an evolved PKI at the core. Encryption\, identity\, communic
ations\, and computing are all being reinvented and PKI is as well.\n\nBy a
rchitecting a Sovereign Quantum Stack that leverages PKI and vertically int
egrates an architecture of trust that spans silicon\, enterprise systems\,
global communications\, and space-based infrastructure we can define the se
curity and stability of the next generation of quantum infrastructure\, whi
le future proofing industries and economies.\n\nThis talk walks through a n
ational plan to architect a sovereign quantum stack\, and highlights the in
tersection of today's PKI and the requirements for tomorrows'\, by highligh
ting four of the most critical architectural layers:\n\n1. Silicon Trust La
yer\nEvery secure system begins with hardware\, from this anchor point\, hi
gher-level security guarantees such as secure boot\, encrypted communicatio
ns\, and firmware validation can be established. Hardware roots of trust ge
nerate cryptographic keys\, store them securely\, and perform sensitive cry
ptographic operations inside protected environments. Hardware can also esta
blish secure device identity for devices\, firmware\, and components as the
y move through global manufacturing ecosystems. \n\n2. Identity and Certif
icate Layer\nAbove the silicon layer sits the infrastructure that transform
s hardware trust into operational trust. This layer includes public key in
frastructure (PKI)\, certificate authorities\, and identity frameworks. The
se systems extend trust established in hardware across enterprise systems\,
cloud platforms\, and global communications networks. In the quantum era\,
this layer must support cryptographic and enterprise agility to transition
between cryptographic algorithms at pace. \n\n3. Enterprise Infrastructur
e Layer\nThe third layer of the Sovereign Quantum Stack is where trust beco
mes operational inside real organizations\, as enterprises deploy encryptio
 n across applications\, cloud environments\, operational technology\, and c
onnected devices. Linking the encryption that appears in operating systems\
 , software libraries\, network protocols\, cloud services\, and connected d
evices starts with certificates and keys often distributed across thousands
of systems. Hybrid deployments combining classical and post-quantum crypt
ography will likely persist for years\, making this adaptable enterprise la
yer essential.\n\n4. Orbital Infrastructure Layer\nThe final layer of the S
overeign Quantum Stack extends beyond the Earth’s surface\, as satellite
systems are becoming a critical part of global infrastructure. They provide
communications\, PNT\,\, and encryption and data services across oceans\,
deserts\, and remote regions. Orbital infrastructure also provides resilien
ce as terrestrial infrastructure can be disrupted through physical damage\,
network interference\, or geopolitical pressure. As quantum technologies m
ature\, space will become a critical platform for establishing and distribu
ting cryptographic keys\, verifying identities\, and supporting the global
 architecture of quantum infrastructure.\n\nPKI evolution\, extension\, and
integration will be critical to global success of the future of encryption
at scale-- and sovereign quantum stacks are this future.\n\nSpeakers: Tom P
